| "Any Poodle, regardless of
color, that
exhibits exemplary health, temperament
and conformation deserves a venue in
which to be validated." |

Historically, the
multi-colored Poodle is
well documented: writings, drawings, and
paintings from the 1700s and 1800s
include many examples of these colorful
dogs. However, around the turn of the
20th century, for arbitrary reasons, the
Poodle Club of America
disqualified non solid-colored
Poodles from conformation
showing. While multi-colored
Poodles remained popular with
the public, they were not seen in the
show ring for almost 100 years. At the
turn of the 21st century, a few
dedicated breeders led a movement in the
U.S. to return the multi-colored
Poodle to his rightful place as
a well-bred competitor in the breed ring
and as a loving companion in people's
homes.
Multi-colored Poodles
are eligible for registration with both
the American Kennel Club (AKC) and the
United Kennel Club (UKC). Multi-colored
Poodles are welcome to compete
at all UKC conformation and performance
events. The Poodle Club of
America dictates that only
solid-colored Poodles
can compete in the AKC breed ring;
however, multi-colored Poodles
are accepted in other AKC events where
many earn a wide variety of AKC
performance titles, including obedience
and agility.
| "Multi-colored" is an umbrella term that
encompasses all colors and color
patterns (solids, partis, phantoms,
sables, abstracts and multi-patterned)
found in Poodles. The MCPCA (
Multi - Colored Poodle Club Of
America) advocates
for, and is pre-eminently focused on the
conformation, temperament and health of
all Poodles but we do so without any
discrimination towards the various colors and patterns found in Poodles and
are striving to see this same philosophy
become more widely accepted. |
